Thornström Brookfield Arkitekter is a Bergen-based architecture practice, founded in 2022 by Fredrik Thornström and Daniel Brookfield.
Our office aims to combine contemporary architecture with our existing built heritage, stitching our projects together with the built fabric of the past. We are committed to incorporating sustainability as a fundamental principle in our design approach. By combining theory, practice, and a sustainable principles, we believe that architecture can be remarkable and innovative.
Approach
Each project we undertake is seen as an opportunity to enhance the architectural landscape, integrating our projects into a narrative that respects the past, engages with the present, and is flexible for the future. Our approach aims to push for innovation, foster collaboration with clients and consultants, whilst questioning traditional methods across a variety of project scales. At the foundation of this process is a connection with the project's environment, and the existing urban landscapes. We explore material use, principles of sustainability, and focus on creating interesting and meaningful architecture that merges practicality with aesthetic appeal. Spaces should not only be functional but also resonate with their contextual environment.
